Begum’s experience spans real estate development, construction and architectural design. She holds a dual Masters in Architecture and Masters of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. Prior to pursuing her masters, she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in Architecture with a minor in Real Estate Development from the Wharton School. An interdisciplinary education and professional experience have cultivated her interest in various aspects of the built environment including financial, zoning
&
legal and design & construction.
In addition to a particular interest in multi-family residential, she is intrigued by larger-scale projects that incorporate closed loop, waste-to-energy systems and low carbon materiality as means to build more sustainable. Lately on her mind are new residential, lodging and office typologies that will emerge in the post-pandemic era along with the financial and architectural implications of passive house and net-zero buildings.
In her free time, she enjoys running in Central Park- not only for the endorphins, but also for the best skyscraper views in the world!
